What Is VirtuaLAN?

VirtuaLAN is a private internet-isolated VPN for the KendallCon Community. It is a replacement for now-defunct or otherwise limited “LAN-over-WAN” VPN services such as Hamachi, Evolve or Tunngle. Users on the network can communicate with each other much as they would while physically connected at a LAN party.

This service is not public, and is only available to certified regular members of the KendallCon Community Discord. Registration is handled manually, and users must meet minimum trust requirements within the community before being allowed to access the network, as a preventative to any nefarious behavior.

The service is powered by the SoftEther VPN Suite, and is designed in such a way that users can connect to the network at-will at any time. This VPN does not route internet traffic whatsoever, and only allows for connections of clients to each other, and to the servers running on the VPN host. SoftEther as our server allows for full functionality of practically all network games and applications, with very few incompatibilities - compatiblity is nearly 1:1 with being on the same physical LAN.

Is VirtuaLAN Secure?

While every effort has been made to ensure security on VirtuaLAN, we must emphasize: Users are expected to treat connecting to VirtuaLAN with as much (or as little) scrutiny as they would when connecting to any LAN party network - users are responsible for their own system’s security while connected to the service. Please see the Security section for more information.
